Rhode Island has issued a notice of proposed regulations revisions and a public hearing affecting underground storage tanks (USTs). The proposed regulations were created to add Section 8.22, as federally mandated by the 2005 Energy Policy Act, which outlines and mandates that an operator training program be implemented by each state. The proposed regulations also propose changes to the operation and managment of USTs.
A public hearing is set for March 4, 2011 at 1 pm EST at the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM), Room 300. Written comments may be submitted by mail prior to the date of the public hearing at the address indicated above, or by hand-delivery during the public hearing. The public record will be kept open until 4:00 pm Monday, March 7, 2011.
